Lou Gertha Bonner Memorial Fund
My Story:
The oldest of eight siblings, Lou was born September 07, 1937 in Rayne, Louisiana to Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Landry. At six, the family moved to Beaumont, Texas where Lou attend Hebert High School. Lou was a spiritual person who believed in strong family ties and often returned to Louisiana during the sugar cane harvest to help the family in the fields. Lou moved to California about 1957. She worked for more than 30 years in the food service industry and retired from Washington Hospital in Fremont. Lou was well known in the neighborhood, often opening her door and heart to neighbors. Lou's struggle with pancreatic cancer was brief, and she died at home with her family early Thursday morning, December 11, 2008. Lou is survived by husband of 40 years, a daughter and son, four sisters, three brothers, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
As we watched from shore her brilliant white sails disappear over the horizon and say "There she is gone", others witness those same brilliant white sails appear and say "There she comes."
