Families often need help talking about pancreatic cancer. People often feel disloyal talking about illness with stricken family members. They want to remain optimistic and hopeful, but they often lose a part of the closeness they might otherwise enjoy due to the development of barriers caused by not being able to talk candidly about both life and death. People often need help to open to their own inner process and to remove barriers of silence. People who can be present in the moment can connect in comforting ways, but those who can't live in the moment lose intimacy and create communication barriers that others experience as rejection and fear. Each family member who must cope with the reality of pancreatic cancer may benefit from assistance to manage a flood of confusing emotions.
